came to Argus, each of us from our own private hell, we were powerless
over our lives. Our hopes were broken, our dreams shattered, our lives
chaotic. We are here at Argus, the place of our rebirth, to begin our journey back, to discard self-defeating behavior, to change negative attitudes. We commit to face our fears, our pains, our needs, our anger and to share these feelings with each other so that we may recognize and accept our own humanity as we recognize and accept the humanity of our brothers. We commit to continually confront and change our attitudes and behaviors; taking risks, growing, changing until new positive behaviors and attitudes express the strength, the creativity and the beauty that is our heritage. Treatment
is approximately 18 months with 6 months of aftercare. Residents receive
holistic treatment within a tough but caring community of mutual self-help
which provides positive values and personal and social growth. Education levels are raised through tutoring, vocational training, practicums and/or apprenticeships and jobs. Residents progress through four levels of treatment which prepare them step by step to return to the community drug-free, with jobs, housing, a bank account, and a positive social network.
